I’m just about as far away from a religious person as you can get, but I’ve always appreciated the general idea of giving up something for about 2 months. While I will always consider myself and omnivore, I think that most omnivorous diets focus far too much on meat eating as a main source of protein so last year I went vegetarian (lacto/ovo) and I’m doing the same this year. The only problem that I run into is that I sometimes rely too heavily on cheese. So basically I’m trying to look for some additional recipes that stay away from cheese- I guess most of which are probably vegan, which I am perfectly okay with. So if there are any awesome/simple/affordable recipes that I should consider I’d be very much interested!

On a completely unrelated note, I went to the barber yesterday and had one of the most surreal/weird moments I’ve had since being in LA. I know that the place I go to is pretty “hip” but I sat down in my chair yesterday and after a minute or two I looked over and noticed that a seat down from me was Frankie Muniz who looks almost completely the same as he did when he was popular. He left about halfway through my cut and his seat was filled with a large tattooed dude who was talking about his last trip to the slammer. At first I completely thought he was talking about prison. Nope. The Slammer is a gay sex club. He then went on to talk about sexual etiquette in a place like that (from a bottom’s perspective) and how much Jeffrey Star “cleans up” on warped tour, regardless of sexual orientation. Definitely one of the most interesting afternoons I’ve had in a while. LA can be really weird sometimes.
